Elon Musk's artificial-intelligence startup xAI is in discussions with investors to secure $3 billion in funding, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal.[1]
If successful, this investment round would value xAI at $18 billion. Venture capital firm Gigafund, along with Steve Jurvetson, are among the potential backers considering participation in the round.
The Wall Street Journal also mentioned the involvement of a co-founder from another venture firm, although specific details regarding the individual or the firm were not disclosed.
xAI was launched by Elon Musk last year as an alternative to Microsoft-backed OpenAI and Alphabet's Google.
