A Fresh Direction For Inc. Arabia
"I believe that our region is now poised to make a lasting impression on the global innovation stage – and I think that Inc. Arabia has a crucial role to play in making that happen."
What does it mean to make an impact?
That’s the question that’s been buzzing in my head ever since I took on the role of Editor in Chief at Inc. Arabia about a month ago.
This publication – an offshoot of the American brand Inc. – has been operating in the MENA region for just about a year now, and while it has certainly taken steps in the right direction, I believe that there’s a lot more that we need to do if we are to become – as one of our global taglines says – “everything you need to know to grow and start your business now.”
We are operating in an ecosystem that is at a pivotal moment in its evolution. As a journalist who has covered the MENA business arena for more than a decade, I believe that our region is now poised to make a lasting impression on the global innovation stage – and I think that Inc. Arabia has a crucial role to play in making that happen.
And that’s because at Inc. Arabia, we’re all about inspiring, informing, and documenting the most fascinating people in business – “the risk-takers, the innovators, and the ultra-driven go-getters” who represent the most dynamic force in our economies. These, therefore, are the individuals who, with their ideas and inventions, will propel the Arab world into high gear.
Inc. Arabia thus has the opportunity to make a significant impact on the trajectory of this region – but it’s going to take a lot of work. Right from choosing the stories we want to tell, to the manner in which we present and showcase them, we’re going to rethink and reimagine how Inc. Arabia is representative of this region’s ambitions and aspirations.
From a personal perspective, I’m adamant about making sure that we at Inc. Arabia are never content in being just another publication in this region. From being active participants in this ecosystem to being unequivocal advocates of its constituents, we at Inc. Arabia shall strive to be a resource that “delivers real solutions for today’s innovative business builders.”
Many editors channel their likes and personalities and politics in the publications they manage, and you’ll notice my interest in startups, success stories, and the not-so-success stories come through in the coming editions of Inc. Arabia. For those of you who haven’t yet picked up one of our magazines, or looked at our online channels, well, I hope that you’ll give us a chance – we want our work to speak for itself, but we’re committed to joining you in shaping the future of the Arab world.
Here’s to a fresh direction for Inc. Arabia.
