Rents will be paid only through the Ejar platform in Saudi Arabia beginning next month, to ensure safe financial transactions in the kingdom's real-estate rental industry, Gulf News reported[1], citing Spokesman for the Real Estate General Authority Tayseer Al Mufarrej.
Ejar has registered over 8 million leasing contracts.
"The Authority will apply on-the-spot and effective penalties by directly suspending the violator by the real-estate system,” Al Mufarrej said.
"In case of a criminal suspicion or a violation of other systems, they will be referred to security agencies to take the necessary penalties,” he added without elaborating.
