As one of Dubai's most iconic destinations, Dubai Opera has firmly ingrained itself as a key player in the UAE’s arts landscape, with it known to host over 200 performances a year. But according to Paolo Petrocelli, Head of Dubai Opera, it’s more than a cultural hub – it is also a driver of economic activity.

"Dubai Opera is part of [the Dubai-based global developer] Emaar; so, we're a business-oriented organization," Petrocelli told Inc. Arabia. "It's great to see how this model can actually work... Yes, you can generate financial value through the arts and culture. And I think this is unlocking so many opportunities here in the country and in the region. So many entrepreneurs, so many producers, so many professionals are moving, sometimes even permanently, here [to] the region, to be a part of this, let's say, renaissance of the arts here in the region, and it's just great to see how many business opportunities are coming up."

Calling Dubai Opera an "activator" of such opportunities, Petrocelli went on to note its function as a vibrant platform that engages with every level of society. "We contribute meaningfully to the development of the arts, but also to the development of the business around the arts," Petrocelli said.
