Savvy Games Group And Roblox Join Forces To Boost Saudi Arabia’s Gaming Ecosystem
The initiative aims to empower local talent through education, developer support, and community-building programs.
Savvy Games Group, a Saudi Arabia-based games and esports platform owned by the country's sovereign wealth fund, the Public Investment Fund (PIF), has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Roblox, the global gaming and creation platform, to nurture creative talent and expand opportunities in game development across Saudi Arabia.
Under the partnership, Savvy will help Roblox establish a stronger operational presence in the region, including bringing its developer relations expertise into the country to collaborate directly with Saudi game developers and studios. This will give local creators access to Roblox’s tools and resources, enabling localized training, community engagement, and technical support. Plus, through the Roblox Creator Hub, the initiative will also provide online learning materials, workshops to build skills, and customized competitions.
In a statement, Brian Ward, CEO of Savvy Games Group, said, “Saudi Arabia’s games sector continues to grow at pace, alongside rising interest in game development as a career path and an avenue for entrepreneurship. We are pleased to partner with Roblox to encourage more Saudi students to utilize its game development tools, fostering creativity and equipping emerging talent with the resources and support to help succeed in this rapidly evolving industry.”
Dave Baszucki, co-founder and CEO of Roblox, added, “Our vision at Roblox is to reimagine the way people come together, enabling anyone anywhere to become a creator by lowering the technical barriers to entry traditionally associated with game development. Today’s announcement with Savvy Games will help realize that vision for creators across Saudi Arabia and align with the growth of the Kingdom's creator ecosystem under Vision 2030. We firmly believe that investing in high-quality, educational opportunities for the next generation of Saudis will contribute to the Kingdom’s rapidly growing digital economy.”
Education sits at the core of the partnership, with efforts designed to involve creators, schools, and parents, while expanding on Savvy’s existing collaboration with the Ministry of Education. As part of this, Roblox will assist Saudi developers in transforming standout ideas from a nationwide initiative into playable games, engaging more than 700,000 high school students in the process. In parallel, Savvy will work alongside Roblox and the Ministry to co-create localized educational resources focused on online safety, parental controls, responsible gaming, and digital literacy.
Aligned with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and the National Gaming and Esports Strategy, the partnership supports efforts to strengthen the country’s gaming and esports landscape by advancing talent development and reinforcing its ambition to become a global gaming hub.
