Microsoft is introducing a revolutionary Copilot key to Windows 11 PCs, marking the first significant change to the Windows PC keyboard in nearly three decades.[1]

This key is set to play a pivotal role in shaping the year 2024 as the era of the AI-powered PC, seamlessly integrating artificial intelligence into Windows across the system, silicon, and hardware.

This step aims to simplify users' computing experiences, positioning Copilot as the entry point into the world of AI on the PC.

Microsoft envisions the Copilot key alongside the iconic Windows key, becoming an integral part of the PC keyboard.

When pressed, the Copilot key will invoke the Copilot in the Windows experience, offering a seamless way to engage with AI in day-to-day activities.

Microsoft has been at the forefront of this evolution, enhancing product experiences with Copilot across various applications, from Bing to Microsoft 365.

The collaboration with silicon partners AMD, Intel, and Qualcomm has further enabled the creation of new system architectures, combining the GPU, CPU, NPU, and the cloud to power novel AI experiences on Windows PCs.

The Copilot key is expected to be available on various Windows 11 devices later this January through spring, including upcoming Surface devices.
