UAE Favors Streaming and Social Media for 2024 Olympics

A recent YouGov survey shows that many UAE residents plan to use online streaming channels and social media to follow the 2024 Paris Olympics, as per an emailed press release to Inc. Arabia.
According to the data, 49% of UAE residents will watch the games through online streaming, while 48% will rely on social media updates.
Fewer residents, 46%, plan to watch the Olympics on TV, and 25% intend to view the events at sports bars or other broadcasting venues. Meanwhile, 21% will stay updated through newspapers or news websites, and 11% plan to attend the games live in Paris.
The survey also revealed differences in preferences by gender and age. Men are more likely to follow the Olympics via online streaming at 53%, compared to women at 39%, while women are more likely to follow social media updates at 55% versus 46% for men. Adults aged 35-44 are most likely to follow social media updates at 55%, while those over 55 are most likely to watch TV at 73%.
The main reasons for watching the Paris Olympics among UAE residents include excitement for the event, supporting the country's athletes, and national pride. Additionally, 34% tune in to witness the athletes' performances, 30% to avoid missing out on a global event, and 23% because their friends and family are watching.
The 2024 Paris Olympics is an upcoming international multi-sport event set for July 26th to August 11th, 2024 in France.
