Alef, MetaMetrics, Partners to Launch Arabic Reading Scale
This partnership aims to enhance the literacy skills of around 100 million K-12 Arabic speakers in MENA.
Alef Education, an education technology company based in the UAE, has joined forces with MetaMetrics, the developer behind the Lexile Framework for Reading, to introduce an Arabic reading scale across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.[1]
This partnership aims to enhance the literacy skills of around 100 million K–12 Arabic speakers in MENA.
Through the combined expertise of Alef Education and MetaMetrics, the initiative will enable governments to assess and track students' reading levels. This scale will facilitate comparisons across different regions, school districts, and individual schools.
Furthermore, publishers, edtech companies, and Arabic content authors will have the opportunity to align their materials and assessments with this standardized scale, ensuring better access to suitable reading materials for learners.
Teachers will benefit from clearer insights into their students' reading levels, enabling them to tailor instruction more effectively, while parents will gain a deeper understanding of their children's literacy development.
