Egypt-based edtech company Eyouth and Singapore-based consultancy EDT&Partners have introduced a US$6 million program to train one million young people across Africa and the Middle East in digital skills. The initiative targets individuals aged 15 to 35, focusing on training in artificial intelligence (AI), programming, data analysis, digital marketing, and modern pedagogy.
Revealed during Bett 2025, a global edtech event held at the ExCeL London from January 22-24, the program combines Eyouth’s experience in skills development with EDT&Partners’ educational technologies. Participants will access an online learning platform offering interactive training, customized content, and resources from partners such as Amazon Web Services.
Launching in February 2025, the program will also offer financial support to eligible educators and will be implemented in vocational and higher education institutions, including the NextEra Coalition in Cairo. Held in Arabic and English, the program aims to address the digital skills gap in the MENA region, where only 1.7 percent of the workforce is classified as digital talent. The region also faces a shortage of educators, with 4.3 million more teachers needed in North Africa and West Asia by 2030.
EYouth was established by Alaa Obeida and Mostafa Abdel Latif in 2010. It offers specialized training programs in entrepreneurship, employability, personal skills enhancement, and community development.
In a statement, Abdel Latif, co-founder and CEO of Eyouth, said, "To date, we have developed the skills of over three million young people. Through this partnership, we aim to accelerate and empower an additional one million youth to unlock their potential and drive innovation across Africa and the Middle East."
Pablo Langa, founder and managing partner of EDT&Partners, stated, "Education has a multiplier effect on our societies and economies. The digital skills gap and the importance of AI for educators are critical components in enhancing the competitiveness of the MENA region. We are proud and excited to partner with Eyouth on this large-scale, transformative initiative."
Hussein Ayoub, regional director for the Middle East and Africa at EDT&Partners, emphasized, "We are connecting Eyouth’s leading skills development platform in the MENA region with EDT&Partners’ global innovation and scalable educational solutions to deliver one of the most pioneering training initiatives in the world."
