The French multinational rolling stock manufacturer Alstom has opened its regional headquarters in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The new headquarters will enhance Alstom’s operations across the Gulf, focusing on growth, project oversight, and railway maintenance. Mohamed Khalil, who has led Alstom's business in Saudi Arabia since 2022, will be the Managing Director of the new regional headquarters.

The Riyadh office will also include the Services Digital Centre, which is part of Alstom’s strategy for condition-based and predictive maintenance of railway assets. The center will use HealthHub, Alstom’s web-based platform for predictive maintenance, to optimize maintenance operations, reduce downtime, and ensure the reliability of railway services globally.

The deadline for international firms to establish regional headquarters (RHQ) in Saudi Arabia or risk losing hundreds of billions of dollars in government contracts came into force on January 1st.

The RHQ Program was introduced in February 2021 to attract global corporations to establish their headquarters in Saudi Arabia and position the kingdom as the premier commercial, industrial, and investment hub for the MENA region.

Moreover, the Ministry of Commerce in Saudi Arabia introduced a new set of online services tailored specifically for foreign companies seeking to establish RHQ in the kingdom.

The newly introduced online services cater to a range of needs, from issuing regional headquarters as branches to establishing entirely new foreign entities. Companies can leverage the platform for tasks including the issuance, amendment, and renewal of commercial registers, as well as reserving commercial names.

Accessible via the ministry's digital platform and the Saudi Business Center's portal, these electronic services are designed to offer a seamless and efficient experience for foreign companies navigating Saudi Arabia's dynamic business landscape.
