Saudi oil giant Aramco unveiled aramcoMETABRAIN, a generative AI model, alongside the launch of the Saudi Accelerated Innovation Lab (SAIL), in a bid to support Saudi Arabia's digital transformation plan.[1]

Presenting at the LEAP 2024 technology event in Riyadh, Aramco President and CEO Amin H. Nasser highlighted the transformative potential of these initiatives in boosting productivity, fostering innovation, and propelling the digital economy forward.[2]

The establishment of SAIL will see partnerships with the Saudi Research, Development, and Innovation Authority, King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology aimed at driving digital ventures and fostering breakthrough innovations.
The Kingdom's Ministry of Communications and Information Technology said on Monday that investments surpassing $11.9 billion are projected for LEAP 2024.

Among the investments announced is Amazon's announcement to launch an AWS infrastructure region in Saudi Arabia by 2026.
