Google Photos Unveils AI Editing Tools for All Users

Google Photos has unveiled the Magic Editor and Magic Eraser among its suite of artificial intelligence (AI) editing tools.[1]

In an announcement, Google revealed that these new tools will start rolling out next month for all users.
Magic Editor, comprising a blend of AI techniques like generative AI, helps users perform intricate photo edits effortlessly, even without professional editing skills. Initially exclusive to Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro smartphones since its debut at Google I/O in May 2023, Magic Editor will now extend its capabilities to all Pixel smartphones.
Google specified that devices with a minimum of 3GB RAM running on Android 8.0/iOS 15 or later will support the feature, including Pixel tablets.
Meanwhile, Magic Eraser enables users to remove unwanted elements from their photos, such as background distractions and power lines.
Beyond these tools, Google also announced the rollout of additional AI editing features, such as Photo Unblur, Portrait Light, HDR effect for both photos and videos, Color Pop, and new collage styles for personalized creations.
Looking ahead, the tech giant teased upcoming features, including Cinematic photos, Portrait Blur, Sky suggestions, and Video effects. These updates are slated to launch on May 15 and continue in the following months.
