ChatGPT's Weekly Users Double to 200 Million
ChatGPT has significantly contributed to the surge in AI's popularity.
OpenAI announced that its popular chatbot, ChatGPT, now boasts over 200 million weekly active users, doubling its user base since last fall. Launched in 2022, ChatGPT quickly gained traction, reaching 100 million weekly users by November of the same year, according to OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.[1]

The AI startup revealed that 92% of Fortune 500 companies are now utilizing its products, and the use of its automated Application Programming Interface (API) has doubled since the release of the GPT-4o mini model in July. GPT-4o mini, a smaller and more cost-efficient AI model, is designed to make OpenAI's technology more accessible and energy-efficient, broadening its appeal to a wider range of customers.

Recently, it was reported that OpenAI is in discussions to raise a new funding round that could value the artificial intelligence (AI) startup at over $100 billion. Thrive Capital is leading the round with a $1 billion investment, though details remain confidential.
Earlier this year, OpenAI's valuation reportedly increased to $80 billion from $29 billion the previous year.
The Wall Street Journal reported that Microsoft, OpenAI’s largest backer, is also participating in this funding round. Microsoft has not commented on the matter.
