KSA Launches Unified Employment Platform Jadarat
The platform was launched by the Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, Ahmed Al-Rajhi.
Saudi Arabia has introduced Jadarat, a unified employment portal offering job opportunities in both the government and private sectors. The platform was launched by the Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, Ahmed Al-Rajhi, as part of efforts to reduce unemployment among citizens.[1]
A report from the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) showed that the unemployment rate among Saudi nationals was 7.6% in the first quarter (Q1) of this year.
At the launch event, Al-Rajhi mentioned that more than 2 million Saudis are now employed in the private sector. He said that Jadarat will help the Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF) to support national talent and increase their participation in the labor market.
In the first half (H1) of this year, the HRDF spent SAR 3.79 billion ($1.01 billion) on employment and training programs in the Kingdom. Jadarat offers over 70,000 job opportunities across various sectors and provides users with search options based on location, career paths, and skills.
The platform integrates jobseeker data from the Taqat and Jadarah portals, which previously supported job seekers in both the public and private sectors.
Recent data shows improvements in labor market indicators, with Saudi women's employment-to-population ratio rising to 30.7% and labor force participation increasing to 35.8% in Q1 2024. The employment-to-population ratio and labor force participation among Saudi men also grew to 63.6% and 66.4%, respectively. The report further noted that 95.9% of unemployed Saudi nationals are open to working in the private sector.
Earlier this month, the Saudi Council of Ministers approved amendments to the Labor Law, aiming to improve the work environment and support sustainable development in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
The amendments focus on improving job stability, protecting contractual rights, developing workforce skills, and increasing job opportunities for Saudi citizens.
In July, The Saudi General Organization for Social Insurance (GOSI) provided details on the Council of Ministers' decree that introduces a New Social Insurance Law applicable exclusively to new employees. This new law is for those joining the public and private sectors without prior contribution periods under the existing Civil Pension or Social Insurance laws.
