Rio Ferdinand Group Invests in Saudi Koora Break
This investment reflects a broader trend of foreign interest in Saudi Arabia’s sports industry.
Sports digital platform Koora Break has secured an undisclosed investment from The Ferdinand Group, the investment firm founded by former Manchester United captain Rio Ferdinand.
Established by Bader Alhammad in 2022, Koora Break focuses on sports digital content covering the Arab world, particularly Saudi Arabia, and operates a football statistics and results app. It boasts 800 million monthly views and has partnerships with leagues such as Italy’s Serie A and the Saudi Professional League. The investment, one of the first major international stakes in a Saudi sports platform, aims to support Koora Break’s expansion into Europe and Asia and will help it grow its non-Arabic content. It will also help Ferdinand Group expand its footprint in the region.
This investment reflects a broader trend of foreign interest in Saudi Arabia’s sports industry.
"Koora Break is a great example of how the sports and tech ecosystems are producing homegrown champions," Rio Ferdinand said in the statement, adding that the company is helping drive "appetite for more coverage of football and sports across Saudi Arabia and the wider region, which will grow hugely ahead of World Cup 2034."
