Rethink Education, a New York-based impact venture capital firm focusing on education has announced a strategic investment in Aanaab, a Saudi Arabian education technology company.[1]
Aanaab, founded in 2018 by Mounira Jamjoom, addresses the need for comprehensive teacher professional development solutions in the MENA region. With a focus on K-12 educators, Aanaab's digital training platform offers a diverse array of courses, licensing, and qualifications primarily in Arabic, catering to the specific needs of teachers and educators across the region.
Currently, Aanaab boasts a user base of over 200,000 teachers and approximately 250 schools enrolled on its platform, spanning 10 countries in the MENA region. The platform's accredited courses, both asynchronous and synchronous, are underpinned by a data-driven approach.
Aanaab also provides courses tailored for school leaders and preparation courses for Saudi Arabia's teacher licensing exams.
Notably, Aanaab's recent initiatives include launching courses aimed at equipping teachers with skills in coding and AI techniques.
In 2020, Aanaab raised $1.5 million in its seed round led by Wamda and Nour Nouf Knowledge Company, with participation from others including a group of angel investors in the education sector.[2]
