Corrsy, an EdTech startup with Finnish and Iraqi roots, has raised $500,000 in pre-seed funding to enhance education across the region with innovative learning solutions.

The funding round was led by EQIQ, a venture capital firm founded by Mohamed Al-Hakim, and included other investors such as Finnish EdTech angel investor Risto Vahanen, SuperChargers Ventures EdTech accelerator, Durubi Management Holding Company, Jordanian angel investor Adel Qahwaji, and Finnish investor Pekka Hermonen.

Founded in 2019 by Mustafa Salam, Corrsy addresses educational challenges in Iraq and the broader SWANA (South West Asia and North Africa) region, using the funds to expand its market presence and enhance its app, which integrates gamification, storytelling, and micro-learning.

The investment round was led by EQIQ, a regional venture capital firm specializing in emerging markets and founded by Mohamed Al-Hakim.

Founded in 2019 by Mustafa Salam, Corrsy is dedicated to addressing educational challenges in Iraq and the broader SWANA region. The edtech uses advanced educational methods that include technology and even games to create a positive impact on education and society.

The founder's vision for Corrsy was shaped by his personal experiences during the armed conflict and the  invasion in Iraq, where he faced significant hardships, including the loss of his father and displacement.

In 2022, the company launched its first product, the Corrsy app, which has been downloaded over 500,000 times by students in Iraq.
