The Saudi Red Sea Authority (SRSA) has issued its first-ever maritime tourism agent license to Cruise Saudi, a business owned by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) and headquartered in Jeddah.[1]
Established by cabinet decision in November 2021, SRSA aims to enhance coordination among relevant entities, issuing licenses and permits, formulating policies, and preserving the marine environment, thereby contributing to the national economy.
Cruise Saudi, launched in 2021, has been instrumental in developing strategic ports like Jeddah Islamic Port, Yanbu Commercial Port, and King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam, attracting a growing number of global cruise ships and international passengers.

In a further expansion of its operations, Cruise Saudi introduced AROYA Cruises in June 2023, the first Arabian cruise line offering tailored experiences at sea and onshore.
Tourism has been an important component of Saudi Vision 2030, the blueprint to diversify the kingdom's economy away from oil. Megatourism and new urban projects are being developed to improve livability and attract tourists to the kingdom. Examples of these projects include NEOM, the Red Sea Project, and Qiddiya.
