UNDP Introduces Green Growth and Jobs Accelerator Project
This innovative program aims to empower entrepreneurs and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to drive green growth.
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has introduced the Green Growth and Jobs Accelerator Project (GGJAP). This innovative program aims to empower small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to drive green growth, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).[1]
The project is crafted to create employment opportunities for youth while propelling SMEs towards sustainability through the cultivation of innovative ideas and the scaling of existing solutions.
Its mission is the facilitation of a transition to a green and sustainable economy, emphasizing innovation, growth, and job creation within the private sector.
In Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, and Tunisia, the project will conduct two five-month business accelerators annually, each accommodating up to 25 chosen SMEs. These enterprises will craft business plans geared towards green growth, with a focus on generating job opportunities for the youth.
Participants will also benefit from valuable networking prospects and potential collaborations to expedite their green growth initiatives.
Going beyond the accelerator phase, the GGJAP will offer digital learning opportunities to both participating companies and aspiring youth entrepreneurs.
Moreover, the GGJAP aims to tailor UNDP strategies to suit local ecosystems in the target countries, leveraging both non-UN and UN-led initiatives to ensure an impactful program.
