StartUp Bahrain, the country’s platform for entrepreneurship, which is supported by the Labour Fund (Tamkeen), has signed a partnership with the Hong Kong-based venture accelerator Brinc to support startups in Bahrain and the wider region.
The agreement seeks to enhance Bahrain's startup ecosystem by combining StartUp Bahrain’s support for entrepreneurship with Brinc’s experience helping startups scale across various industries. Startups in Bahrain and the MENA region will gain access to Brinc’s acceleration programs, investment opportunities, and network of mentors and industry professionals.
StartUp Bahrain was founded in 2017 as a national initiative supported by Tamkeen and the Bahrain Economic Development Board (EDB). It was established to foster entrepreneurship, support startups, and strengthen Bahrain's position as a regional hub for innovation.
"Partnering with StartUp Bahrain represents a new, significant step in our commitment to fostering innovation in Bahrain," Hussain Haji, Brinc’s regional head of corporate innovation said in a statement. "By combining our global acceleration expertise with StartUp Bahrain's local ecosystem knowledge, we aim to create a powerful platform for startups to scale and succeed regionally, and then, internationally."
"This partnership with Brinc marks an exciting new chapter for the local startup ecosystem," remarked Maryam Malik, project manager at StartUp Bahrain. "With Brinc, we hope to provide local startups with more opportunities and access to global markets, reinforcing Bahrain's position as a leading innovation hub in the region."
