Dubai Launches SheTrades Hub to Empower Women Entrepreneurs
The SheTrades MENA Hub aims to serve as a pivotal resource center, equipping women entrepreneurs with essential business skills.
A new SheTrades Hub has been unveiled in Dubai in a bid to empower women entrepreneurs across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.[1]
The International Trade Centre (ITC) and the Dubai Economic Development Corporation (DEDC), Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, solidified their commitment to this cause by signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU), further cementing their partnership in hosting the SheTrades MENA Hub at DEDC.
The SheTrades MENA Hub aims to serve as a pivotal resource center, equipping women entrepreneurs with essential business skills, providing access to ITC SheTrades resources, and facilitating opportunities to expand their enterprises into new markets.
Beyond its regional scope, the SheTrades MENA Hub aligns with the broader objectives of the ITC SheTrades initiative, championing gender equality in international trade on a global scale.
Earlier engagements have seen the Hub facilitate over 130 women-led businesses in exploring export opportunities within the MENA region.
Notably, the Hub played a role in supporting the recent WTO ITC High-Level Event on Women and Trade, convening over 250 women entrepreneurs from across 60 nations alongside influential global business leaders and international development partners. Discussions revolved around devising pragmatic solutions to the challenges facing women entrepreneurs while identifying avenues for accessing new markets within an evolving green and digital trading ecosystem.
