OpenAI Hires Ex-Meta Executive for Strategic Role
Kofman will report to OpenAI Chief Technology Officer Mira Murati and will initially focus on safety and preparedness.
OpenAI has appointed Irina Kofman, a former Meta Platforms Inc. executive, to lead strategic initiatives. Kofman will report to OpenAI Chief Technology Officer Mira Murati and will initially focus on safety and preparedness.[1]

Kofman previously served as a senior director of product management for generative AI at Meta. Meta did not comment on her departure.
OpenAI's hiring of Kofman follows recent additions to its leadership team, including Kevin Weil from Instagram and Twitter, and Sarah Friar from Nextdoor.
OpenAI's recruitment efforts come amid high-profile departures, such as former co-founder John Schulman and researcher Jan Leike, who have joined Anthropic.

Recently, Elon Musk filed a new lawsuit against OpenAI and its CEO, Sam Altman, re-opening a legal battle over artificial intelligence (AI). Musk, who co-founded OpenAI in 2015, initially sued the company in February, accusing it of abandoning its nonprofit mission by reserving advanced AI technology for private customers. He dropped the lawsuit in June after OpenAI published old emails from Musk related to the company's creation.
