Named the Meta Advisory Group, this council comprises four executives: Patrick Collison, CEO and co-founder of Stripe Inc.; Nat Friedman, former CEO of GitHub; Tobi Lütke, CEO of Shopify Inc.; and Charlie Songhurst, an investor and former executive at Microsoft Corp.
Notably, these advisors will not receive compensation for their roles, a Meta spokesperson told Bloomberg.
The new advisory group differs from Meta’s existing 11-person board of directors in several key ways. Unlike board members, who are elected by shareholders and have fiduciary duties to the company, members of the Meta Advisory Group are appointed directly by management and do not bear such obligations.
