Tadweer to Establish UAE's First Material Recovery Factory
Operations expected to commence by the end of 2026.
Tadweer Group has initiated a closed bidding process for the development of Abu Dhabi’s first Material Recovery Facility (MRF), with an anticipated capacity of 1.3 million metric tonnes annually.[1]
This facility aims to recover valuable recyclable materials from municipal solid waste, reducing landfill dependency and aligning with Tadweer Group's broader vision of diverting 80% of Abu Dhabi’s waste from landfills by 2030.
Situated within the Al Mafraq Industrial area, approximately 36 kilometers from Abu Dhabi's center, the MRF will cover over 90,000 square meters, making it one of the largest facilities of its kind in the region.
The bidding process, slated for closure soon, will mark the commencement of engineering, procurement, and construction works, with operations expected to commence by the end of 2026.
