in Africa. The Suez Canal Economy Zone (SCZONE) Inaugurates Silicon Valley for Electronic Industries
Egypt launched the first factory for wearable mobile accessories in Egypt, the Middle East, and Africa in the Sokhna Industrial Zone on Tuesday, according to a statement by the SCZONE.
The factory is a joint effort between the SCZONE and industrial developer China-Egypt TEDA Cooperation Zone, which was founded in 2008 by China's Tianjin TEDA Investment Holding Co.
The plant will produce accessories for the giant Chinese company Transsion Holdings, one of the six largest global companies in mobile phone manufacturing and accessories.
The company is also Africa’s largest in terms of market share in sales of mobile phones and their accessories.
The factory will manufacture accessories for Infinix, G-TiDE, Oraimo, itel Mobile as well as UniTronics products of Uni Group, the owner of the factory.
The factory will operate three production lines, each with a production capacity of 3,000 pieces a day, with a total investment of EGP 25 million.
During the opening cermony, smartphone giant Infinix also announced that it had begun a production trial at the factory of the first advanced TWS Bluetooth headset made in Egypt.
Walid Gamal El-Din, SCZONE's chairman, said in a press statement that the Silicon Valley factory marks “a new achievement of cooperation” between the SCZONE and TEDA, whose investments in the zone have amounted to more than $2 billion. Gamal El-Din expressed his hope that the 1,350-square-metre factory is the beginning of more investments in this field.
“The factory is the first of its kind in Egypt, the Middle East and Africa in manufacturing wearable mobile phone accessories, including smart speakers and Bluetooth headsets of all kinds,” said Abdel Moneim Al-Khawaja, Chairman of the Silicon Valley during the opening ceremony on Tuesday.
