Syria has inaugurated the Tech Town innovation hub in Damascus with the aim of encouraging entrepreneurship, supporting startups, and advancing the country's digital transformation as part of broader efforts to develop a knowledge-based economy.

According to a report by the Syrian Arab News Agency, Tech Town has been designed as an integrated startup ecosystem featuring seven operational sections that include co-working offices, meeting rooms, event spaces, research and development (R&D) centers, and specialized laboratories focused on artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, and virtual reality (VR). The hub also aims to connect entrepreneurs with investors and industry experts, thereby helping transform innovative ideas into commercially viable products and supporting the expansion of Syria's digital economy.

During the launch event, Abdul Salam Haykal, Syria’s Communications and Information Technology Minister, said that his office will maintain a presence at Tech Town to strengthen cooperation with the private sector and support entrepreneurial initiatives. He also described the initiative as an example of the importance of public-private partnerships in advancing Syria’s digital economy and supporting its young innovators.

Tech Town CEO Sinan Hatahet added that the center will support startups from the earliest stages, help them develop product prototypes, and connect founders with partners and investors. Hatahet also noted that the hub will offer specialized training programs aligned with labor market needs, while its laboratories will support research and development and help turn innovative ideas into market-ready products.
