CPX Holding, a UAE-based provider of cyber and physical security solutions, has acquired UAE-born startup spiderSilk, a cyberdefense company known for its proprietary artificial intelligence (AI)-driven defense technologies, including its flagship exposure management platform, Resonance.

This strategic acquisition merges CPX’s comprehensive capabilities in threat detection, analysis, and response with spiderSilk’s innovative, product-focused AI solutions. Together, the two companies aim to deliver smarter, more integrated, and responsive cybersecurity offerings to tackle today’s evolving threats. The partnership also sets the stage for global expansion into key markets such as North America, Saudi Arabia, and the wider GCC.

Inc. Arabia spoke with Hadi Anwar, CEO of CPX, and Mossab Hussein, co-founder and Chief Security Officer of spiderSilk, to explore what the acquisition signals for the future of cybersecurity innovation from the UAE. “With the cybersecurity threat landscape becoming increasingly sophisticated, CPX identified a critical opportunity to accelerate innovation in AI-powered cyber defense by integrating spiderSilk’s pioneering technologies,” Anwar said. “This acquisition fills a strategic gap in product-led innovation, allowing CPX to shift beyond service-centric offerings to include AI-driven, scalable platforms. It also enables us to fast-track our expansion into new markets and deepen our relevance to global customers navigating complex cyber risk environments.”

Meanwhile, spiderSilk's Hussein revealed to Inc. Arabia how his company’s longstanding collaboration with CPX evolved into a strategic acquisition, and what it means for spiderSilk’s next chapter on the global stage. “We already had a strategic partnership with CPX for several years before this transaction, recognizing significant synergies and alignment," Hussein shared. “The acquisition naturally evolved from that partnership, combining spiderSilk’s AI-native capabilities with CPX’s extensive resources and market presence, instantly accelerating our global expansion.”

CPX, which was founded in Abu Dhabi in 2022, is now a part of the Abu Dhabi-based global tech conglomerate G42, and it is home to more than 600 experts in cyber and physical security, delivering solutions to enterprises, government entities, and critical infrastructure sectors across the UAE and internationally. Meanwhile, spiderSilk, which was founded in 2019, has developed and launched innovative cybersecurity products from the UAE, catering to both regional and international markets. Its latest offerings include autonomous security operations center (SOC) AI agents as well as a cyber intelligence platform powered by a comprehensive internet-wide knowledge graph.

Anwar told Inc. Arabia that one of the key advantages of the CPX–spiderSilk merger is how their strengths align to deliver smarter, more scalable cybersecurity solutions. “CPX brings operational depth and regional scale; spiderSilk brings cutting-edge R&D and global product relevance,” Anwar explained. “This merger enhances CPX’s value proposition by embedding advanced AI capabilities directly into our offerings, making them more intelligent, automated, and globally competitive. It positions CPX as a cyber innovation leader not just in the UAE, but also in new target markets across the GCC and globally, accelerating our shared path to becoming a recognized cybersecurity powerhouse.”

This move by CPX also aligns seamlessly with the UAE’s ambition to position itself as a global leader in cybersecurity and AI. “By bringing together two homegrown innovators, we are showcasing the UAE’s ability to develop, scale, and export cutting-edge cyber solutions,” Anwar said. “spiderSilk’s success in building globally adopted platforms from the UAE is a testament to the country’s growing R&D strength. The deal reinforces national priorities around technological advancement, digital trust, and sovereign cyber capabilities. This acquisition directly supports the UAE’s ambition to lead in AI and cybersecurity on a global scale. It demonstrates that the UAE is serious about becoming a global hub for cybersecurity innovation and resilience.”

Hussein said that spiderSilk’s product-first culture will remain firmly intact under CPX, with the acquisition designed to enhance—not dilute—its innovation trajectory. “The acquisition enhances our product roadmap through deeper collaboration with CPX’s team, leveraging their extensive experience from real-world engagements,” Hussein explained. “Because CPX recognized the importance of maintaining our product-led approach, the deal was structured specifically to ensure spiderSilk remains independent, operating autonomously as CPX’s dedicated technology and product arm.”

As spiderSilk scales, its team remains focused on building original, high-impact technologies. “Cybersecurity is highly competitive; merely rebranding existing solutions doesn’t cut it,” Hussein shared. “We differentiated by owning our intellectual property, creating efficient, automated, and user-centric products. Resonance, our flagship exposure management platform, leverages proprietary internet-wide scanning and an AI-powered attribution model to automate threat detection and validation. This approach has driven strong customer adoption, exceptional retention rates, and successful displacement of key competitors across the UAE, KSA, and US markets.”

Hussein also emphasized the strategic benefits of partnering with CPX, noting that it provides spiderSilk with access to CPX’s and G42’s extensive ecosystem, greatly expanding their market reach, AI research capabilities, and computational resources. “Customers now gain an integrated cybersecurity solution combining CPX’s robust service expertise with spiderSilk’s AI-native products and autonomous agents, directly addressing complex, real-life security challenges at scale,” he concluded.
