Facebook and Instagram Logins Restored
Users can now access meta platforms after a few hours of downtime.
A technical issue caused widespread login issues and major traffic drops for a few hours across Meta’s Facebook, Instagram, Threads, and Messenger platforms on Tuesday. These issues are now resolved, and the platforms are back to normal.
Andy Stone, Meta’s head of communications, addressed the issue on X, formerly known as Twitter, and said the company “resolved the issue as quickly as possible for everyone who was impacted, and we apologize for any inconvenience.”

Users reported being locked out of their Facebook accounts and feeds on the platform, as well as that threads and Instagram were not refreshing. Meta also owns WhatsApp, which appeared unaffected.
The outage, which spanned multiple countries, was related to how users log in, and it appeared that many Facebook users had been logged out of their accounts. The company hasn’t revealed yet what the technical issue was.
In 2021, Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp were down for hours, an outage the company said was a result of faulty changes on routers that coordinate network traffic between its data centers. Im 2022, WhatsApp had another brief outage.
