It’s no secret that most artificial intelligence (AI) systems deployed in the MENA region have been built elsewhere—and that cultural misalignment is what Ali Mohsen sought to correct with DOO, the Bahrain-based enterprise that he co-founded with Mohamed AlKhabbaz.

An AI-native customer operating system designed for MENA markets, DOO integrates unified customer communication, agentic AI orchestration, and Arabic-first models trained and optimized for Gulf dialects and cultural context, with Mohsen also noting that its systems are built to operate within the region’s regulatory frameworks and high-trust environments.

“Through telecom partnerships and enterprise deployments, our AI agents are actively serving banks, government entities, universities, hospitals, and fast-growing businesses,” Mohsen shares. “We process hundreds of thousands of customer interactions every month. Clients have reduced response times from hours to seconds, while maintaining culturally appropriate communication in Arabic and English across digital and voice channels. The impact goes beyond efficiency. Organizations are able to scale without sacrificing trust, tone, or compliance.”

In this context, the numbers DOO can point to feel less like milestones and more like confirmation. Since its 2024 launch, DOO has surpassed US$1 million in annual recurring revenue, while also raising $1.7 million in funding to scale across the GCC and beyond—all of which can be seen as evidence that culturally attuned AI in the region is not just a niche proposition, but a necessary one. “Our innovation solves a regional reality,” Mohsen says. “AI in the MENA must not only speak the language. It must understand the culture, the regulation, and the way business is done.”
