Holon’s Heath Behncke on Web3 and AI
Health Behncke, founder and managing director of Holon, discusses how Web3 and AI can tackle key issues in today's digital world.
“If you look at the challenges in Web2 — privacy, data capture, governance, and cybersecurity — Web3 is stepping up to solve them,” said Heath Behncke, founder and managing director of Holon. In an interview with Inc. Arabia, Behncke delves into the role of Web3 and artificial intelligence (AI) in addressing the limitations of current digital infrastructure.
Australian-based Holon, a firm specializing in Web 3.0 and AI-driven data storage and computing, was co-founded by Behncke in 2018. It focuses on developing the next generation of Web 3.0 services that provide secure and sustainable data solutions. The company supports the transition to green data and promotes data ownership by providing decentralized, distributed, and verifiable data storage and computing services for the data market, driven by the growth of AI and Web3.
In September, Holon announced a partnership with the Dubai AI Campus to create a supportive ecosystem for startups at the newly inaugurated campus.
Behncke shares how recognizing Web2’s limitations led him to explore Web3 for better solutions. "When you study it deeply, you realize Web3 is building the infrastructure needed to address these challenges in the future," he says.
Behncke highlights how the shift from Web2 to Web3 can address ongoing issues related to data privacy, governance, and security. While Web2 has brought innovations and the growth of major tech companies, it has also exposed vulnerabilities in data management. For Behncke, Web3 represents a new infrastructure designed to solve these problems.
Behncke also touches on concerns surrounding AI and data, stressing the importance of AI and Web3 working together to improve data security. He explains that Web3’s key features, such as immutability and verifiability, can help address concerns about data misuse. "We have solutions to address some of the main concerns around risks to people's data... You can’t have AI without data," he adds.
