Fahd Al-Rabadi, head of the National Data Management Office at the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), has reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to fostering ethical and responsible artificial intelligence (AI) development both locally and globally.[1]

Speaking at the International Conference on AI and the High-Level Meeting on International Governance of AI 2024 in Shanghai, Al-Rabadi invited conference attendees to the third edition of the World Summit on AI, organized by Saudi Arabia and SDAIA, to be held in Riyadh in September 2024.

He highlighted that the summit will be a gathering for leading minds worldwide to explore AI’s potential and its impact across various fields.

He also called for AI to drive positive global change, promote sustainable development, and foster a more inclusive and equitable society.

Al-Rabadi detailed SDAIA’s active partnerships with international organizations, governments, and industry leaders to develop global AI governance frameworks that encourage innovation while maintaining ethical standards. He also noted SDAIA’s involvement in the initial international scientific report on advanced AI safety, a collaborative effort involving 75 experts from 30 countries, the European Union (EU), and the United Nations.

The conference, titled "Governance of Artificial Intelligence for Good and for All," took place from July 4th to 6th, 2024.

This aligns with the Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to reduce Saudi Arabia's dependence on oil, diversify its economy, and develop public service sectors.
