Meta's Moon Baz On Why Confidence Is The Most Underrated Career Skill

For Baz, leadership has been shaped less by certainty and more by the courage to act despite doubt, trusting that growth follows commitment.

At the 2025 edition of the Women Empowerment Convention (WE Convention) in Dubai, Inc. Arabia asked accomplished female leaders speaking at the event to reflect on the experiences that shaped their careers—and what they know now that they didn’t then.

Confidence—that’s the trait Moon Baz wishes she had more of when she kickstarted her career in the media industry over 18 years ago. But it’s a reflection that seems to be at odds with the ease with which Baz shows up in her role today as the Director of Global Partnerships for the Middle East, Africa, and Turkey at Meta, the social media giant behind platforms like Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and more.

However, Baz admits to Inc. Arabia that there was indeed a time when she used to question just about every decision she made along her career trajectory, which she now feels was both unnecessary and limiting—and it’s a lesson that she wishes to pass on to those who are now starting out in the world of work.

“Do not be afraid to do what you want to do, and to build what you want to build,” Baz says. “If you have a vision, if there’s something you want to do, just work hard on it, be committed and dedicated to it, and just work towards it. Don’t question yourself. Don’t think about what other people would think or say—do it for you, and you’ll definitely succeed.”
