The ICT Regulatory Sandbox provides an environment where technologies such as virtual reality, augmented reality, cloud computing, smart applications, IoT, digital twins, and blockchain can be tested. After testing, products may receive a license for local production or distribution.
Small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), startups, and ICT companies are the main beneficiaries of this service.
Recently, the UAE's Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications Office introduced the UAE Charter for the Development and Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), aimed at realizing the goals of the UAE Strategy for AI.
The Charter aims to create an environment with strict safety and privacy standards to build public trust in AI applications.
In January, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, issued a law establishing the Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Advanced Technology Council (AIATC).
The AIATC is mandated to spearhead the development and execution of policies and strategies in the realms of research, infrastructure, and investments concerning AI and advanced technology in Abu Dhabi.
This aligns with Abu Dhabi's strategy to position itself as a global hub for investments, partnerships, and talent acquisition in the tech sector.
