The GCC's Tech Vanguard: VentureOne's Reda Nidhakou
The acting CEO of VentureOne was one of the 30 innovators celebrated in Inc. Arabia's December 2024 special feature, The GCC's Tech Vanguard.
As the acting CEO of VentureOne, Reda Nidhakou leads the commercialization of the deep tech being developed by its sister enterprise, the Technology Innovation Institute (TII) – both of which are part of Abu Dhabi’s Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC). With a background in strategy consulting as well as deep expertise in advanced technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, and robotics, the commercialization of deeptech, and strategic applications of technologies for both government and business, Nidhakou is, in his current role, keen to nurture world-class talent to transform the tech industry.
“Technology has always been exciting to me,” Nidhakou says. “I started my career in strategy consulting, where I gained interest in the business impact of technology. Then I got the chance to be involved in cutting-edge technology development and deployments, which showed me the extent of what technology can achieve and the excitement of building solutions that solve problems and make an impact. In my current role at VentureOne, I am responsible for productizing and commercializing advanced tech solutions, often through the creation of standalone tech ventures. This role cuts across a wide range of exciting technologies, with different complexity levels, and a massive business potential.”

Under Nidhakou’s leadership, VentureOne has launched four startups to date. In 2023, it established AI71, which creates advanced business solutions powered by TII’s Falcon AI models. Since then, it has seen its members grow from 40 to 120 members, and it has also secured contracts from major partners in the UAE and five other countries. In November 2024, Reda oversaw VentureOne’s launch of the autonomous mobility technology company SteerAI and post-quantum cryptography cybersecurity startup QuantumGate, and in December, it launched the climatetech venture Nabat, which uses AI and robotics to restore mangroves and boost climate resilience. Under his leadership, all of these startups have been awarded contracts with major partners in the UAE and around the world.
Nidhakou, whose achievements are a testament to his passion for making technology accessible, is now keen to see how these ventures will transform the way that business is conducted. “I am particularly passionate about technology that creates a tangible positive impact, a mark of real success,” he states. “At VentureOne, we have the opportunity to put groundbreaking technologies from TII into the hands of organizations, and witness the operational, commercial, and societal value it generates.”
A Playbook For Success: Q&A With Reda Nidhakou
Given the investment that GCC countries are putting into tech, what role do you think the region will play in this domain, globally, in the future?
“Undoubtedly, the UAE is driving towards being a global leader when it comes to advanced technology. This ecosystem is driving technological development on several fronts, with a growing success story in the field of artificial intelligence, where the country is clearly punching above its weight, and putting all the necessary ingredients in place to thrive in this fast-moving domain. I believe the UAE will serve as an example in the future of how AI and other technologies like cryptography or quantum can be picked up and advanced quickly and efficiently. With the current pace, the UAE can definitely become a hub for advanced technology, and an exporter of impactful solutions to the world, in the upcoming few years.”
What advice would you give to young people/new businesses looking to start/grow in your field/industry?
“Before entering the market, startups must make sure their technology is going to solve a specific problem or challenge. The problem must be specific enough, and the solution should effect real change. I also recommend focusing on targeted solutions and perfecting them, instead of boiling the ocean. Given the pace at which technology moves, it is also crucial that their solutions are modular and easily scalable.
For young talent, I advise them to be curious, and to explore the extent of what advanced technology can achieve. AI, for example, is an exciting field unlocking massive opportunities. I advise every young talent to look into it, and to find ways to leverage it.”
