UAE Offers Flexible Hours for Govt Staff on 1st School Day
Monday, August 26th, will mark the first day back at school in the UAE.
The UAE has announced flexible work hours for government employees on the first day of school to assist parents with school drop-offs and pickups. This flexibility will also extend through the first week for those with children in nursery and kindergarten.[1]
The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) introduced this policy for the 2024-2025 academic year. Flexible hours will also apply to important events such as parent-teacher meetings and graduation ceremonies. Employees can use up to three hours of flexibility, either all at once or split between morning and evening.
Parents with children in primary grades and above are also eligible. Adjustments will be made according to the school's curriculum schedule. Employees must adhere to their entity’s regulations and get approval from their director. The policy aims to provide work flexibility while maintaining workflow and service delivery.
