Team Falcons Win $7 Million at Esports World Cup

Saudi Arabia's Team Falcons won the Esports World Cup Club Championship, earning a $7 million prize at Boulevard Riyadh City.

With a lead of 4,160 points heading into the final competitions, Team Falcons secured the championship after results in Week 7 eliminated their closest competitors. Team Liquid from the Netherlands, in second place, missed their chance to qualify for next week’s Tekken8 tournament, ending their pursuit of the title.
France's Team Vitality also fell short in StarCraft II, confirming Team Falcons as the 2024 Club Championship winners. The win was celebrated by the home crowd in Riyadh.
The SEF Arena will host the grand finals of StarCraft II, EA Sports FC 24, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III on Sunday. The Esports World Cup will conclude with a closing ceremony on August 25th, where the champions will be recognized.
The E-Sports World Cup Foundation reported an impressive 177.5 million viewing hours during the first four weeks of the tournament in Riyadh.
Held from July 3rd to August 25th, the event attracted over 1 million visitors, including football stars Neymar Jr. and Jota. With total prizes amounting to $60 million, the tournament set record viewing levels across several championships.
Recently, Saudi Arabia submitted a bid to host the largest-ever edition of the FIFA World Cup held in a single country, unveiling details during a ceremony in Paris, France. The official bid slogan, "Growing. Together.," has received the backing of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman.
It aligns with Vision 2030's sports goals to advance Saudi Arabia's sports infrastructure. Hosting major global events will enhance investment and the local economy through its sporting and commercial amenities. This comes after Saudi Arabia announced plans to host the first Olympic Esports Games in 2025 through an agreement with the International Olympic Committee.
