TikTok Adds Group Chat Feature for Easier Sharing
Users can now create group chats with up to 32 people.
TikTok is adding a group chat feature for users aged 16 and older, addressing a gap that previously set it apart from other social media platforms like Instagram. Users can now create group chats with up to 32 people, making it easier to share content with multiple friends at once without using external messaging apps.
To create a group chat, users can either go to their “Inbox” and select the “Chat” option or create a group directly from a post by tapping the share button and selecting the “Create group chat with friends” option.
There are a few rules to note: only friends or mutual followers can invite you to a group chat, and users under 18 must have at least one mutual friend in the group to join.
TikTok is also adding stickers to Direct Messages. Users can choose from existing stickers or create custom ones to personalize their conversations.
Recently, TikTok partnered with the Esports World Cup Foundation (EWCF) to enhance the Esports experience for fans worldwide. The partnership aims to improve engagement and content diversity during the Esports World Cup, which is taking place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
As part of the partnership, TikTok will introduce a dedicated EWC Hub on its app, which will act as a centralized platform to showcase content from the tournament. The hub will include content from official broadcasters, teams, and players. The EWC will also produce exclusive content for TikTok to foster collaborations with TikTok creators.
