His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, has greenlit the next phase of the 'Dubai Future Solutions – Prototypes for Humanity' initiative. This project, spearheaded by Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, aims to develop new solutions for global challenges. This second phase builds on the previous success of the 'Prototypes for Humanity' initiative, Dubai Media Office announced in a statement.[1]
During the launch ceremony, a cooperation agreement was penned between the Dubai Future Foundation (DFF) and the Hussain Sajwani – DAMAC Foundation (HSDF), committing AED 100 million ($27.23 million) to support innovation in Dubai and the UAE.
This collaboration between DFF and HSDF will create a global framework for partnerships with academic institutions, startups, and leading innovators. It will also provide a platform for developing new solutions addressing global challenges. The initiative will also support job creation, investment opportunities, and market expansion.
An annual event at the Dubai Future District will pick the top 100 innovations from the initiative, with awards presented to the best. DFF will further support the initiative through national programs like the Dubai Research and Development Program and the Dubai Robotics and Automation Program.
The initiative's first phase has showcased hundreds of new innovative projects over the past nine years. It received over 2,800 project submissions in 2023, spanning over 200 technological and future-oriented sectors.
The DFF recently partnered with Meta to introduce a new business incubator program powered by Meta's "LLAMA 3" AI model.
The announcement was made during the AI Retreat 2024, hosted by the Dubai Center for Artificial Intelligence (DCAI) in collaboration with the National Program for Artificial Intelligence.
The program is designed to use Large Language Models (LLMs) to drive innovation in products and services across various industries, aligning with the Dubai Universal Blueprint for Artificial Intelligence (DUB.AI), supporting Dubai's economic agenda (D33) by adding AED 100 billion ($27.23 billion) through digital transformation and enhancing economic productivity by 50% via innovation and digital solutions.
