Dubai Loop Launched To Redefine Transportation In Dubai
With potential speeds of up to 100 mph, Dubai Loop – a collaboration between Dubai’s Road and Transports Authority and Elon Musk's The Boring Company – could cut travel time between key points in the emirate to just minutes.

Dubai’s Road and Transports Authority (RTA) has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Las Vegas- and Bastrop-headquartered The Boring Company (TBC) to launch the Dubai Loop, a next generation underground transportation system that will run throughout the emirate.
The Dubai Loop system is set to connect major hubs throughout Dubai, and according to a TBC statement, with potential speeds of up to 100 mph, the Loop could cut travel time between key points in the emirate to just minutes.
This collaboration aims to use sustainable, innovative technologies to safely and efficiently transport passengers via TBC’s Loop system, which has already transported over two million passengers across the American city of Las Vegas since 2021.
Founded by Elon Musk in 2017 with the aim to revolutionize transportation, TBC creates safe, fast-to-dig, and low-cost transportation, utility, and freight tunnels. Besides designing and constructing the "Tunnel Boring Machines" (TBMs), TBC also designs the tunnels/stations, operates the TBMs to build the tunnels, and runs the resultant subsurface Loop transportation system.
While Vegas Loop is currently under active development, TBC noted that it has been entitled for 104 stations and 110 kilometers of tunnel, which shall eventually transport over 90,000 passengers per hour throughout the system.

The system will also keeping sustainability at its core by utilizing electric vehicles within a controlled environment, and thus, it will contribute to Dubai's ambitious sustainability goals, aligning with the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050.
A signing ceremony to memorialize the MoU was held during the 2025 edition of the World Governments Summit in Dubai in the presence of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of the Executive Council, HE Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of Dubai RTA, and HE Omar Al Olama, the UAE Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications.
