Abu Dhabi is Uniting Key Local Regulatory Authorities
to Expand the Enabling Regulatory Framework to Streamline Applications Across Air, Land and Sea
Abu Dhabi is bringing together key regional regulatory bodies to broaden the permissive framework and expedite applications for land, air, and sea transportation, the Emirati News Agency WAM reported on October 15th.

The step comes after the launch of the Smart and Autonomous Vehicle Industry (SAVI) cluster in Masdar City.
Regulators including the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED), General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), Integrated Transport Centre (ITC), and Abu Dhabi Maritime are collaborating with the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO) to provide a supportive atmosphere for SAVI applications.
Abu Dhabi is developing a one-stop regulatory solution for certification, licensing, authorizations, and intellectual property (IP) management in order to speed up innovation and commercialization.
In order to draw important international companies and encourage the use of future smart and autonomous applications in the UAE, comprehensive, growth-enabling regulatory assistance will be a crucial aspect.
"Abu Dhabi has firmly established itself as a hub for export-driven innovation, developing solutions with global impact and reach. Over the years, we have created thriving business sectors, cementing our position as one of the fastest places in the world to do business,” Acting Director-General of Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO) Badr Al Olama said.
Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), was quoted by WAM saying "The UAE has firmly established itself as a hub for innovation and an incubator for emerging technologies. Among its primary areas of focus, the transportation sector takes the forefront, given its critical role in advancing the country's capabilities in smart and future cities technology.”
