The iPhone maker is planning to begin rolling out Apple Intelligence to customers as part of software updates coming by October, the report added, citing people familiar with the matter. AI features will arrive a few weeks after the initial iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 releases planned for September, Bloomberg said.
Apple is planning to make Apple Intelligence available to software developers for the first time for early testing as soon as this week via iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 betas, the report added.
iOS 18 brings various new features and enhancements, and all of them are attributed to personalization and privacy. Users can arrange their home screens with less restriction, benefit from a redesigned control center, and make use of new privacy features such as the ability to lock specific applications. It also increases the quality of messages, satellite messages, gaming experience, and photo search.
In June, Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024 concluded with a series of product releases topped by Apple Intelligence, a new play in AI.
Apple Intelligence’s platform is expected to offer individualized and privacy-preserving functions, including contexts, notifications, writing and rewriting services, and image synthesis. Apple Intelligence should be able to execute multiple applications and leverage what cloud-based models provide while being secure about the users’ data.
Apple also partnered with OpenAI to enable Siri to access OpenAI’s ChatGPT in a major improvement, making suggestions or even generating content such as bedtime stories with images. This feature will be free for the users and will not require any account creation, thereby keeping the users' data private. Siri will also be enhanced in real-time statement correction as well as being more integrated with Apple operating systems.
