As the CEO of Presight, a company within the portfolio of Abu Dhabi–headquartered tech conglomerate G42, Thomas Pramotedham believes in the power of technology to reshape societies and drive positive, long-lasting change.

With over two decades of leadership and innovation experience in the tech industry under his belt, he currently oversees the AI-driven emergency and crisis response subsidiary Presight LifeSaver, the sustainability-focused ENERGYai, and the efficiency-boosting smart city and industry management subsidiary Presight Intelli Platform. Under his leadership, Presight has become one of the UAE’s largest exporters of AI, with over 150 models and 10 major AI-powered solutions for the field across Africa and Central Asia.

Presight was founded in the UAE, armed with a mission to convert data into actionable insights. “One of the region’s biggest challenges is converting massive volumes of raw data into practical insights that improve public services, urban planning, and business performance,” Pramotedham tells Inc. Arabia. “That is exactly what Presight was built to solve, and we are doing it at scale. Our AI platforms help governments and companies make faster, smarter decisions. From predictive tools that support public safety to systems that optimize operations in energy, utilities, and transport, we focus on real-world impact.”

Pramotedham also highlights Presight’s AI-Startup Accelerator, through which the company provides a launchpad to support startups and entrepreneurs who are building AI solutions for the future, right here in the MENA. “The region is becoming a launchpad for AI, not just a market,” he says. “With strong national strategies, top-tier infrastructure, and growing local talent, it is a fertile ground for breakthrough technologies. What excites me the most is knowing the next generation of global AI leaders may not come from Silicon Valley, they will come from here, shaped by the challenges and opportunities unique to this region.”

Perspectives from the AI Frontier: Thomas Pramotedham

Given the investment that the MENA is putting into artificial intelligence, what role do you think the region will play in the global landscape for it in the future?

“The MENA is no longer just adopting AI. It is helping define its future. Countries like the UAE are investing at a national scale to become global leaders in AI development and deployment. Abu Dhabi, for example, has committed AED13 billion ($3.54 billion) to build the world’s first fully AI-native government.

That kind of investment has turned the UAE into a magnet for AI talent, capital, and companies. Initiatives like the UAE’s Artificial Intelligence 2031 strategy, Microsoft’s $1.5 billion stake in G42, and our own collaboration with Microsoft through the Presight AI-Startup Accelerator all exemplify why Abu Dhabi is deservedly a world-leading AI ecosystem. The region is moving from passive adoption to active creation.

We see the MENA playing three critical roles: it will launch enterprise-grade AI, lead in sovereign data innovation, and promote ethical, applied AI. With a highly digitized public sector and a rich base of local data, the region is well-positioned to build solutions with global relevance.

This is not about catching up. It is about setting the pace, with a focus on measurable outcomes while much of the world is still deciding which direction to take.”
