The Abu Dhabi Department of Community Development (DCD) has launched the Sadeem Innovation Lab to support the social sector in the UAE capital through the development, testing, and scaling of impactful solutions for the domain.

As the DCD’s internal innovation lab, Sadeem has been designed to support teams and employees in developing practical responses to social challenges. Operating through a structured internal model aligned with established governance channels, Sadeem follows a framework built around three stages—discovery, validation, and acceleration—delivered through three corresponding tracks, Tarfa, Suhail, and Marqab, respectively.

In a statement, Yousif Al Zaabi, Director of Innovation and Strategic Partnerships at DCD, said, “The Sadeem Innovation Lab plays a key role in how we use innovation to strengthen the social sector. It allows us to turn challenges into opportunities, and ideas into practical solutions, helping to improve the quality of social services and respond to the needs of the community. Through Sadeem, we support teams in developing solutions based on evidence and practical experience, following a clear approach that takes ideas from discovery through testing, and into implementation.”

Sadeem’s outputs will include prototypes, pilot projects, and knowledge assets that can be applied across the social sector. The model enables entities to test and refine solutions before scaling them, with the aim of improving the efficiency and quality of social services. DCD is also exploring expanding the lab’s scope to involve additional stakeholders across the social sector through structured operating models.
